PoA48 · Expand breeding and research partnerships to develop and deploy methane-efficient rice, climate-tolerant cereals, improved oilseeds, and resilient ...

This programme of action will strengthen Ghana’s seed and genetic stock systems by expanding adaptive breeding and research partnerships between public institutions (CSIR, universities), private sector companies, and international centres of excellence. The goal of this programme of action is to accelerate the development and deployment of climate-smart seed and stock: methane-efficient rice varieties, drought- and heat-tolerant cereals, high-yielding oilseeds, poultry breeds with improved feed conversion efficiency, and fast-growing aquaculture stock. These innovations will directly cut agricultural emissions, enhance food system resilience, and improve farmer incomes.
